Skin & hair online class!

2020-05-26 16:47 | 0 kommentarer

I purchased the Kit & Clowder Skin and hair class on their
Black Friday sale back in 2018, and was planning to start the class
in January of 2019 as when all the Christmas cards are made and sent
I usually lose my mojo for a while and I thought it would be a perfect
opportunity to gain some new knowledge and practice coloring skin and hair.

Skin and Hair Technique Class

But at that time I was just starting an assignment as a DT member.
With my full attention on making cards there was
not time enough left for me to also focus on an online class as well.

Jump fast forward to March of 2020, when Kathy announced
that there was going to be yet another 30 Day Coloring Challenge!
That was my que to finally focus my attention on coloring skin and hair!

Six lessons and 27 assignments later I am happy to say I have
finished the class! And I have come to the conclusion that straight
hair is so much easier to color than curls or waves! LOL!
And yes, I know it takes a lot of practice to improve!

This class was so much fun and also challenging!
Alyce is an amazing teacher, watching her videos is so relaxing!

These pictures are just some of the images I colored in class,
I have posted all my colored assignments on Instagram!

The wavy long hair in the picture above, so pretty and so challenging!

I never knew zombie and vampire skin was so much fun to color!

So cool that you can get a totally different look by using different colors!

This mermaid image I blew up in size to be
able to really blend and work on the details!

No line coloring, it´s so interesting to see how an image
comes to life in a totally different way then with black lines!

Kit and Clowder has so many awesome online classes,
for both markers and pencils. If you are new to Kit and Clowder
online classes and maybe markers too, I recommend to start
with the free Markers 101 class, it´s all about lightsource
basics, blending, maintenance and more!

Thank you for stopping by today!

Christmas in May!

These are my Christmas cards for the month of May!
I am so happy I am sticking to my challenge (goal) of making two
Christmas cards a month from January through September/October.
It feels so good to add two more cards to my stash!

For these cards I used the poinsettia stamp "Sparkler" by Penny
Black. I heat embossed the outlines with gold embossing powder.
I colored the poinsettias with Copic markers RV66-55-52
and V000. I masked the images once colored to blend Distress
inks for the background, using Candied Apple and a little
Black Soot in the corners and along the edges for some depth.

I splashed droplets of water on the panel for some extra
interest!  The sentiment stamp is from Gummiapan, from the
2019 advent calender. I heat embossed the sentiment in
gold to match the outlines of the poinsettias and the matting!

I matted my ink blended panel on to a beautiful golden panel
and a pink one to go with the color of the poinsettias!
I then popped them onto foam dots for dimension!

I added a wash of Wink of Stella, in color
clear to the poinsettias to finish off the card!

Slimline mice card!

2020-05-06 15:35 | 0 kommentarer

Today I share a slimline card made
using some of the fun mice from the "Les Pabos-
Les Rats Des Villes" set by Katzel Kraft!
The balloon is from the "Balloon Bunch Buddies"
set by Clearly Besotted and the sentiment stamp
is from the "Fancy sayings" set, also by Clearly Bestted.

I wanted to cutify these mice, to soften their looks
a bit. So I stamped the images using grey ink for
no-line coloring and colored with Copic markers!

I prefer to make top fold cards and haven´t found
slimline top fold card bases anywhere, so I made
my own by adhering two pieces of cardstock with double
sided tape, the joint is on the back of the card, at the top!

I have found it difficult to find colorful envelopes for
slimline cards here in Sweden, the only one I have come
across are dull pink or dull blue and I want bright ones
to match my cards which usually are bright and colorful.

So I decided to make my own envelope for this card
and thought I share a very simple and basic tutorial...
but I found a really great tutorial on YouTube by
Jenny Card Designs, so I link to that instead,
as her envelope looks so much fancier than my!

I share a few more pictures of the cards instead
of a tutorial! Below is the front of the card,
I added a strip of rainbow patterned paper for some
extra pops of color. I love this paper from the
"Over the rainbow" 6"x6" pad by Honey Bee Stamps.
All of the papers in this pad are so pretty!

Below is the inside of the card and I wanted the inside
to match the front and added a strip of the same patterned
paper but put it on the opposite side to the front!
