Christmas in June!

Hi there crafty friends!

I have made two more Christmas cards for my challenge/goal
to make two Christmas cards per month, January-September.
It feels so good to add two more to my stash!

For these two cards I have used the "Cozy & Warm"
digi stamp, by Lili of the Valley, on Etsy. I couldn´t resist
this little gang cozying up by the fire place!

As you can see their fur is lighting up from the crackeling fire!

I have wanted to try this glow technique for such a long time
and recently I found a very helpful video tutorial by
Sandy Allnock showing how to color this glow from the fire!

The sentiment is from the "Winter Scripty Sentiments" set, by Lawn Fawn.

Images and carpet were colored with Copic markers.

Just because!

Today´s just because card was made using a digital stamp by
Krista Smith! This image is called "International Women's Day".

I love Krista´s images for coloring skin, hair and eyes!
There are so many cute images in her shop, for every occasion!
When I started coloring this pretty girl I had no idea she
would end up with a pink colored top with gray and black striped arms!
The only thing I knew was I wanted a soft green subtle background
and denim trousers. To match that background I colored
her hair band green. That pink was a bright and beautiful contrast!

I colored her with Copic markers. For the background I
used Distress ink Mowed Lawn, blended with a blending
brush for just a subtle shade, fading into the white card stock.

When colored I cut her out using my Scan n Cut and
adhered her to the panel with double sided tape.

Stay home & pet a dog/pet a cat!

I came across the most adorable digital images, in
the 7 kids craft store!  At the moment they are freebies!
So generous, thank you!

This stamp set is called "Stay home & pet a dog/pet a cat!
I made my card using both the cat and dog. I chose to not
stamp a sentiment, as this card is great for so many occasions!

I had so much fun moving the images around when creating
my little scene! Should the shelf be smaller or larger?
Placed on the left handside or on the right? Where to
place the dog bed? Should I shrink the kitty further and let her
sleep in the dog bed too? The possibilities are endless! Decisions, decisions!

That is the great thing about digi stamps,
you can change the size of the images to fit your projects!

When finished coloring the images with Copic markers,
(still in pink mode!) I felt I needed some extra cute, fun and interesting
details!I decided to go for a black and white rug. I was also thinking
to add some kind of wall paper and came to the conclusion that I
didn´t want to use just a patterned paper.
(And all the extra job of fuzzy cutting the images!)

Looking through my stamp sets I found a small heart that was perfect!
I didn´t mask the images, just covered the actual part
of the images with a piece of scrap paper as I was moving my panel
around in my Stamping tool, stamping little hearts here and there!

Critter color reference chart!

2020-06-08 14:01 | 3 kommentarer

I spent several nights last
week coloring critters, on a mission...

To make a color reference chart!
I do have one for skin tones and hair, and I realised
I also need a quick guide for when I color critters too!

I stamped and colored the critters I use the most.

When finished coloring, I ran the ones I don´t have
dies for through my Scan n Cut. I adhered them with
double sided tape to a sheet of white cardstock
and wrote the color combo down beside each and every one!

This will save me so much time!
And it will be easy to apply these color
combo´s on other critters as well!

Birthday squad!

2020-06-04 12:01 | 0 kommentarer

Hi there crafty friends!

Today´s card is a colorful birthday card made using my all
time favorite Mama Elephant stamp set, "Party Animals"!

I also used a banner stamp by Gummiapan for this birthday squad!

There was a lot of masking going on!
I often choose to stamp and mask rather then stamp the images up and
run them through my Scan n Cut (for the sets that I don´t have dies for)
and then put a scene together. The latter is much easier, but I like the
result of coloring and masking even though it takes time and planning ahead.

I started out with a stitched die cut panel, stamped and masked the images.
When finished I fuzzy cut the images on the top half of the panel,
leaving a white border. The stiched border was left at the bottom of the panel.
I stamped the banner on another panel. Once colored, with Copic markers,
I used light blue B01 and B00 for a soft and subtle shadow around the banners.

To get a similar soft shading behind the images I used
Distress ink Tumbled Glass, blended with a blending brush!

I assembled the two stitched panels using double sided tape and
glue for the smaller parts. I matted the panels on black cardstock
and then on to white, popping it on foam dots for dimension on the card base!

To finish off the card I used a white gel pen for the polka
dots on the banners, party hats and the ribbons on the
boxes. I applied a light wash of Wink of Stella on the
balloons and to the frosting on the cake!

The sentiment is from the "Many Everyday messages" set by Hero Arts.
