Birthday squad!

2020-06-04 12:01 | 0 kommentarer

Hi there crafty friends!

Today´s card is a colorful birthday card made using my all
time favorite Mama Elephant stamp set, "Party Animals"!

I also used a banner stamp by Gummiapan for this birthday squad!

There was a lot of masking going on!
I often choose to stamp and mask rather then stamp the images up and
run them through my Scan n Cut (for the sets that I don´t have dies for)
and then put a scene together. The latter is much easier, but I like the
result of coloring and masking even though it takes time and planning ahead.

I started out with a stitched die cut panel, stamped and masked the images.
When finished I fuzzy cut the images on the top half of the panel,
leaving a white border. The stiched border was left at the bottom of the panel.
I stamped the banner on another panel. Once colored, with Copic markers,
I used light blue B01 and B00 for a soft and subtle shadow around the banners.

To get a similar soft shading behind the images I used
Distress ink Tumbled Glass, blended with a blending brush!

I assembled the two stitched panels using double sided tape and
glue for the smaller parts. I matted the panels on black cardstock
and then on to white, popping it on foam dots for dimension on the card base!

To finish off the card I used a white gel pen for the polka
dots on the banners, party hats and the ribbons on the
boxes. I applied a light wash of Wink of Stella on the
balloons and to the frosting on the cake!

The sentiment is from the "Many Everyday messages" set by Hero Arts.

Skin & hair online class!

2020-05-26 16:47 | 0 kommentarer

I purchased the Kit & Clowder Skin and hair class on their
Black Friday sale back in 2018, and was planning to start the class
in January of 2019 as when all the Christmas cards are made and sent
I usually lose my mojo for a while and I thought it would be a perfect
opportunity to gain some new knowledge and practice coloring skin and hair.

Skin and Hair Technique Class

But at that time I was just starting an assignment as a DT member.
With my full attention on making cards there was
not time enough left for me to also focus on an online class as well.

Jump fast forward to March of 2020, when Kathy announced
that there was going to be yet another 30 Day Coloring Challenge!
That was my que to finally focus my attention on coloring skin and hair!

Six lessons and 27 assignments later I am happy to say I have
finished the class! And I have come to the conclusion that straight
hair is so much easier to color than curls or waves! LOL!
And yes, I know it takes a lot of practice to improve!

This class was so much fun and also challenging!
Alyce is an amazing teacher, watching her videos is so relaxing!

These pictures are just some of the images I colored in class,
I have posted all my colored assignments on Instagram!

The wavy long hair in the picture above, so pretty and so challenging!

I never knew zombie and vampire skin was so much fun to color!

So cool that you can get a totally different look by using different colors!

This mermaid image I blew up in size to be
able to really blend and work on the details!

No line coloring, it´s so interesting to see how an image
comes to life in a totally different way then with black lines!

Kit and Clowder has so many awesome online classes,
for both markers and pencils. If you are new to Kit and Clowder
online classes and maybe markers too, I recommend to start
with the free Markers 101 class, it´s all about lightsource
basics, blending, maintenance and more!

Christmas in May!

2020-05-18 10:51 | 0 kommentarer

These are my Christmas cards for the month of May!
I am so happy I am sticking to my challenge (goal) of making two
Christmas cards a month from January through September/October.
It feels so good to add two more cards to my stash!

For these cards I used the poinsettia stamp "Sparkler" by Penny
Black. I heat embossed the outlines with gold embossing powder.
I colored the poinsettias with Copic markers RV66-55-52
and V000. I masked the images once colored to blend Distress
inks for the background, using Candied Apple and a little
Black Soot in the corners and along the edges for some depth.

I splashed droplets of water on the panel for some extra
interest!  The sentiment stamp is from Gummiapan, from the
2019 advent calender. I heat embossed the sentiment in
gold to match the outlines of the poinsettias and the matting!

I matted my ink blended panel on to a beautiful golden panel
and a pink one to go with the color of the poinsettias!
I then popped them onto foam dots for dimension!

I added a wash of Wink of Stella, in color
clear to the poinsettias to finish off the card!

Slimline mice card!

2020-05-06 15:35 | 0 kommentarer

Today I share a slimline card made
using some of the fun mice from the "Les Pabos-
Les Rats Des Villes" set by Katzel Kraft!
The balloon is from the "Balloon Bunch Buddies"
set by Clearly Besotted and the sentiment stamp
is from the "Fancy sayings" set, also by Clearly Bestted.

I wanted to cutify these mice, to soften their looks
a bit. So I stamped the images using grey ink for
no-line coloring and colored with Copic markers!

I prefer to make top fold cards and haven´t found
slimline top fold card bases anywhere, so I made
my own by adhering two pieces of cardstock with double
sided tape, the joint is on the back of the card, at the top!

I have found it difficult to find colorful envelopes for
slimline cards here in Sweden, the only one I have come
across are dull pink or dull blue and I want bright ones
to match my cards which usually are bright and colorful.

So I decided to make my own envelope for this card
and thought I share a very simple and basic tutorial...
but I found a really great tutorial on YouTube by
Jenny Card Designs, so I link to that instead,
as her envelope looks so much fancier than my!

I share a few more pictures of the cards instead
of a tutorial! Below is the front of the card,
I added a strip of rainbow patterned paper for some
extra pops of color. I love this paper from the
"Over the rainbow" 6"x6" pad by Honey Bee Stamps.
All of the papers in this pad are so pretty!

Below is the inside of the card and I wanted the inside
to match the front and added a strip of the same patterned
paper but put it on the opposite side to the front!

Time to celebrate!

Today´s Birthday card was made using some of
my favorite Curvy Girls from Stampingbella!

As I didn´t want the card to be too busy, I left a little white space at the top
and decided to place the images along the bottom edge of the die cut panel.

I colored the images with Copic markers, the blue shadow was also colored
with Copics. I used a white gel pen for the dots on the pink dress.
A little glitter was also added to the flowers and to the icing on the cake!

The sentiment is from the "Fancy Sayings" set by Clearly Besotted!
The rainbow colored striped paper was a perfect match to the colored images!

I love it when I get a card with a little surprise detail on the inside when
I open the card! When I make a card and send it I unfortunately most
often forget that fun little detail. But this time I remembered!

I stamped and colored the Curvy Girls Besties on the inside of the card!

Rainbow birthday card!

2020-04-23 14:38 | 0 kommentarer

Hi there!

I was so inspired by Silvia´s beautiful rainbow/unicorn card
from a while back and I had to make a rainbow sky for my card too!

This cute image is a freebie from Making Cards Magazine,
from their star sign digi stamp series, and this is Virgo!
Loving these cute ladies and how great that they are freebies!

And what I love about digi stamps in general is that
you can resize the image to fit your individual pojects!

For my rainbow background I used Distress inks; Candied Apple, Ripe
Persimon, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet.

For the clouds I used the cloud border die from the
"Landscape Trio" die set, by Mama Elephant. I die cut my rainbow
colored panel into three pieces to make some subtle details.

I  cut out a white cloud on which I stamped the sentiment.
This sentiment is from the "Many Everyday Messages" set by Hero Arts.

I colored miss Virgo with Copic markers, cut her out with my
Scan n Cut and popped her on some foam dots for dimension!

Today´s card is my coloring from day 29 of
Kathy´s March-20 "30 Day coloring challenge".

I stamped, masked and colored a whole bunch of
Stampingbella´s Curvy girls for a fun birthday card!

I used; Curvy girl loves coffee, eats cake, with a
cocktail, gardener, besties and loves the beach!

Images were colored with Copic markers, I
applied Stickles to some of the flowers, the
cocktails and the cake for som glitz and glamour
as I know the recipient of the card loves a little glitter!

Easter bunny!

2020-04-06 09:17 | 0 kommentarer

I usually don´t make and send many Easter cards,
but this year I feel I need to send a few, to let people know
I think about them during this strange, different and difficult
time and cheer them up with Happy mail.

For this card I have used the cute Easter bunny which is a FREE!!!
digi stamp from Clearly Besotted! Yay and thank you Clearly Besotted!
They actually have a few free digi´s at the moment, so hop on over
to their website and download, you´ll find them in the Digi Stamp section!

I colored the bunny with Copic markers. The background was
made using a stencil, "Splat it",  also by Clearly Besotted.
I blended Distress inks, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade,
Mowed Lawn and Wilted Violet, with my ink blending tool!

I used a white gel pen for the highlights on the ink splat!

The bunny was cut out with my Scan n Cut and adhered
to the card base with foam dots for some dimension!

Today I share a quick CAS just-because card!

For this card I used the cute bunny from the "Love notes"
set, by Clearly Besotted. The "Hi" comes with the "Tiny
Townie Penelope has a pencil" stamp by Stampingbella.
The post-it note is from the "Sticky notes" set by Mama Elephant.

I stamped the bunny, made a mask using masking
paper to cover the bunny and then stamped the post-it
note. The images were colored with Copic
markers, then cut out with my Scan n Cut.

I used a blender brush to blend the Distress Oxide Ink
Picked Raspberry seamless on the white cardstock.

I used foam dots for dimension when
adhering the image to the background panel!

Belated birthday wishes!

2020-03-19 14:02 | 0 kommentarer

Today´s card is a belated birthday card!

I used "Curvy girl eats cake" from Stampingbella,
she is perfect for birthday cards, belated or not!

I used watercolor paper and Nuvo Shimmer powders for this
background panel. Colors Cherry bomb and Blue Blitz.
This time I used the smooching technique. I sprayed water on a
crafting mat, dusted on some shimmer powder and smooshed the
panel into it, a few times. This turned out quite pastel and soft
compared to the panel on the previous post as I used more water
on this panel. Its hard to catch the shimmer on camera and I
guess the shimmer delutes too when using more water.

The image was colored with Copic markers. I used a splash of
Stickles on the cake, for some glitter! The scallop die I used is
"Reverse stitched scallop rectangle window die", by Lawn Fawn.

Shimmer powders!

2020-03-16 15:07 | 0 kommentarer

Hi there!

When I came up with the idea for this card and design
I knew I wanted a bold background. And that was the perfect
opportunity to bring out my Nuvo Simmer powders!

The flowers are from the "Stippled flowers" set by Gina K,
the hello die is from the "Gallery frame #1 die" by Hello Bluebird.

I did a few panels before I was satisfied. I wanted sharp edges on two
sides and masked with masking tape. I will save the panels I didn´t use for later.

I sprinkled the shimmer powder on to the watercolor paper
and carefully sprayed water on it. I then let it air dry.

I used the color Atlantis Burst and I love its mix of teal, blue, green and gold!

Christmas cards for March!

2020-03-09 15:35 | 0 kommentarer

Today I share my two Christmas cards that I made for
the month of March! It feels so good adding to my stash!

For these cards I used Uptown Girl "Chrystal´s Christmas label"
by Stampingbella. I have used Chrystal only, by
simply cutting of the label. I have actually cut the rubber
in two parts, and it will be easy to put them together again
when I
want to use the label part together with Chrystal!

I colored the images with Copic markers,
the shadows were also colored with Copics!

I heat embossed white snowflakes, on the background
panel, using the "Sowflakes" set by Avery Elle.
I then blended Distress Oxide inks Spun Sugar
and Picked Raspberry over the snowflakes.

The polaroid photo frame die is the "Photo mat",
also by Avery Elle. I adhered the photo frames to
foam dots for some dimension. A little bit of stickles
was applied to the fluffy parts of their hats and dresses!

Coffee & love

2020-03-06 10:48 | 0 kommentarer

I am not a coffee drinker, but I drink lots and lots
of hot tea! This cup, "Coffee & love" a digi stamp from
Graciellie Design can be both a cup of steaming hot
coffee or a warming cup of hot tea!

This pretty stamp is perfect for a just because
card or happy mail with a gift card for a cup inside!

The image was colored with Copic markers, for the
pink background panel I blended Distress Oxide inks,
Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry.

The sentiment is from the "Fancy sayings" set by Clearly Besotted.
That is such a great set, so many useful sentiments and they look
really fancy as there are two different type of fonts in each sentiment!

And they are great size, too, not to small,
just perfect! I highly recommend this set!

The Gardener!

2020-02-27 13:16 | 0 kommentarer

This card was so much fun to make!
I had this idea of a garland of flowers behind
Curvy Girl ”Gardener” from Stampingbella!

I cut a panel of Neenah Solar white to stamp my images on.
This card required a lot of masking! I made two masks
for the flower stamps, both sizes, and one mask for my
curvy girl. I started out by stamping the curvy girl,
applied the mask, to be able to stamp some flowers
behind her. I continued to stamp the flowers in a garland
shape, some behind and some in front of each other!

I colored the images with Copic markers. I often color a
blue shadow behind my colored images but this time I
decided to go with a light warm contour to make the
images pop! I grounded her using quite dark grey Copics.

I die cut a rectangle from my panel, using a stitched
rectangle die,
I adhered the remaining ”frame” onto a piece
of cardstock
the same size as the frame.

I used the same stitched die to cut a piece of black fun
foam for some dimension and to get a black edge! I adhered
the fun foam to the panel using double sided tape.

But sadly and super annoying, a few days after I had
mailed this card I discovered, when making another card that
the foam doesn´t work very well with my double sided tape
as it doesn´t hold on and started to come loose in several
places, even though I put the panels under a heavy box to
let the glue bond with the foam and the cardstock…

I adhered the large panel to a black slightly larger panel
to get a black outline matching the foam and finished
the card adhering it to my cardbase!

Next time I will use several panels for dimension
and a pop of color to make sure it won´t come off!
